Without the necessary means to buy a bike young Franck Cornille had started his sporting career on a bicycle (at an elite national level) with his friend Stéphane Augé who since then became a pro rider. But his passion for motorsports caught up with him and at the age of 17, he finally bought his first bike to take on the French sand championships.
The 2003 enduro du Touquet remains an important event for him. It was after that race that he decided to take part in the Dakar. He still remembers the look on the faces of the people for whom "starting a Dakar is like taking on a legend. For them, attempting to do the Dakar is rather crazy. But for me it was thought over because there was a lot of time and money invested in the project".
He has no regrets, far from that. The Dakar is for Franck a huge source of pleasure. “I really love preparing for the course. At home, during training, with friends… The Dakar gathers people together”…
His team, 100 % Sud Ouest, gathers a group of party animals who could well transform the bivouac into a huge fiesta in the middle of the desert. With the likes of Philippe Bernat-Salles and Christian Califano, two former stars of the French National rugby team, the bunch will certainly not be the quietest. A real godsend for Franck who loves sharing his passion and the pleasure he has living the race.
