Hubert Molina: "We’re aiming at a place in the leading 20"
In his Kerax Renault, bought in 2001, Hubert Molina thought he would take care of the assistance of a team. He finally switched to the real race. This change of situation comes as a new ambition for Hubert Molina. "We’re going to try to finish in the top 20". After a flabbergasting first appearance that saw him capture 5th spot alongside Edmond Pélissier, Hubert however remains realistic. "We had been lucky. That year, the Kamaz trucks had broken down. For this Dakar, the race behind the factory trucks remains wide open. It could allow us to show ourselves". To reach their goal Hubert Molina will be counting on the homogeneity in the cabin and the many dunes to be crossed this year. "I’ll be again taking off with my favourite co-driver, Christophe. There’s also a lot of sand and that suits me well". His only worry; like every year is the camel grass. "We have to drive at 30km/h, it damages the machine and it damages the man as well". Christophe Crespo also talks about the quality of the crew: "It’s a team in perfect osmosis. We know each other well. It’s the first time that we’ll be doing the race with the goal of finishing first of the Kerax trucks". Same motivation for the mechanic, Christian Flasseur, a hunter from the Isere area of France who will live the big race for his third time: "Of course, the Russians and the Dutch are untouchable. We will try to finish just behind them".
